Pack 220 Den Supplies Suggested List

 

This is not an exhaustive list, but things I feel each den should consider bringing. Please use this list as a guide and bring any additional items as you see fit for an overnight campout. Enjoy! – Derak Baxley

 NOTE: There is NO access to electricity on the campsite!

 

____Water jugs (a 10 gallon jug or several smaller ones): There is water, but not immediately at the campsite.

____Individual empty jugs to make juices, tea, etc. (use your large jugs for plain water)

____Ice (several bags): Note, you can buy ice at the park, but expensive and out-of-the-way!

____Cooking stove (propane, liquid fuel, charcoal, etc.): Suggest at least one propane stove in case it rains.

____ Pots & pans, skillets

____Coffee pot (percolator type, or bring a filter & funnel, and slowly pour boiling water through for drip coffee)

____Cook utensils (forks, spoons, spatulas, ladles, knives, etc.)

____Metal buckets to wash pots, pans, eating utensils, etc.

____Liquid dish detergent

____Sponges and dishwashing brushes

____Dining fly/tarp (highly recommended): Having more than one would be even better in case it rains.

____Cooler(s) to keep perishables and ice

____Condiments, spices, sauces

____Styrofoam, paper or plastic plates, bowls, cups (bring plenty of cups for both cold & hot drinks)

____Eating utensils (plastic forks, knives, spoons)

____Lanterns (either propane, liquid fuel or electric, at least one, two is better): Highly recommended!

____Charcoal (optional)

____Extra propane tanks or liquid fuel (depending on type of stove and lanterns used)

____Extra lantern mantles (propane or liquid fuel only)

____Metal grate/grill (optional if you plan to cook over an open fire or charcoal)

____Wood for your den campfires (Pack will NOT furnish wood, no wood at the park! Be sure to bring small tenders and kindling as well as large pieces of wood!)

____Lighter fluid

____Matches or lighter

____Tables (at least one to put stove on, a second to put food, etc. on): Highly recommended!

____Aluminum foil, plastic zip lock bags (quart and gallon size)

____Paper towels

____Paper napkins

____Garbage bags (an absolute MUST!!): Don’t skimp, get quality bags that won’t rip!

____Food: Need to serve Saturday night supper, Cracker Barrel (snacks for kids after bonfire including plenty of hot chocolate, coffee for adults, juice, etc.), and Sunday morning breakfast. Saturday lunch is BAG lunch on the hike!

____Cracker Barrel: Suggestions for snacks include, cookies, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, cubed cheese, cut-up lunchmeat with crackers, chips, apples, grapes, hot chocolate, coffee, juices. Be creative, but something easy to whip up and easy to clean up!

____Miscellaneous: coffee, hot chocolate mixes, marshmallows, creamers, milk, juice mixes, cooking oil, sticks to toast marshmallows (enough for everyone in your den!).
