Resources for Leaders
These resources are gathered from various places on the web, or created
by members of our Pack. They are all freely available for private use, but
may not be distributed for any commercial purposes. Check each document for
any specific copyright.
One of the first questions every new Scout parent asks is "What do
we bring to a campout?" These lists were compiled for prior years' campouts,
but camping is camping, right?
Uniforming
This is a sheet that will help your Scout make sure his uniform meets
the guidelines. Great help for proper patch / badge placement.
Any Den or Pack activity that requires travel to a location other
than your normal and regular meeting points needs to be reported to The Greater
Alabama Council. The leader responsible for organizing the event MUST complete
a Local Tour Permit Application at least two weeks prior to the outing.
Download it
here.
Advancements
Cub Scout Academics and Sports Program
belt loop and pin requirements are available here.
USScouts.org is the absolute best
Advancement resource I've ever seen. Online version of each Handbook with
hot links to every other award, belt loop, whatever. If the requirement mentions
a belt loop, you just click it to get those requirements. A Den Leaders' DREAM!
The CubTrax are the best
way I've found to keep up with Den Advancements. They are designed for Den
Leaders to keep track of their Scouts' advancement, but parents also find them very
useful when planning and reporting their son's achievements. There is also
an Adult spreadsheet for Scouters to keep track of their own training and advancement.
How I use them: Print a copy of each scout's sheet, and put
it in his Handbook. Have him color in the blocks as he completes a requirement.
You keep a master set in a folder, so that all you have to do is quickly run through
and tick off the ones he's done. Then, after the meeting, you can update your
spreadsheet. Makes it VERY easy to enter into PackMaster, because as you update
each scout, it also updates your Summary. (Makes more sense after you look at the
file.)
Den Planning
These Advancement Walkthroughs were written by our very own Laura
Purvis. She has generously made them available to anyone who wants to use
them as a reference to help organize their own Den schedule.
Other WEBELOS Program Plans and Guides - Various Sources
This is a general quick instruction sheet for PackMaster, the system
Den Leaders use to report advancements. More information is available in the
help files, and you can also contact the
Advancements Chair
or Webmaster for help.
There is a wealth of information available on the Web. Below
are some links to various sites submitted by other members and leaders. If
you have a site you think needs to be listed here, email the
webmaster.
